Thomas Caldwell Stuart (1794-1882)
Thomas Caldwell Stuart is buried at Pontotoc City Cemetery, Pontotoc, Mississippi. “His tombstone erroneously give his date of death as 1883 instead of 1882” (Robert M. Winter, Outposts of Zion: A History of Mississippi Presbyterians in the Nineteenth Century, p. 67).
This history is comprised of eight letters written in 1861 and published in the Southern Presbyterian. This reprint comes from George Howe, History of the Presbyterian Church of South Carolina, Vol. 2 (1883).
This 6-part article (the first part is missing) appeared in 1884 and 1885 issues of Electra magazine. Franklin Patton was the amanuensis for T.C. Stuart.
